Waiting With Jean

Reflections on a gentle spirit.
We are waiting. We have been waiting, off and on, many times over the years. But the last five weeks, have felt more final. Someone finally said the 'terminal' word and the mood shifted.

Jean is the epitome of a gentle spirit. Always kind. Always thoughtful. Even now, when hardly any part of her body works the way she wants , she still asks about us. Remembering the small details. the change at work, the car needing a repair. Her mind sharp and alert. Always asking about us. Too
weak to shift her body weight now, she relies o others to help with everything. Well up until yesterday.
Now she lies there quietly, just breathing.

Her breathing is deep and regular. Well not entirely regular. Occasionally stopping.
Then, the counting begins . One. Two. Three. Four.... and the breathing begins again . We relax. The clock ticks, the hours pass.

And Jean is breathing with us. Each day seems another blessing. First Easter. Then her birthday. 78. And then her 56th wedding anniversary. How does one pick an anniversary card for someone who only breathes now?

Separating from this reality. Not able to read any more. not aware of the flowers that are now surrounding her. The roses for the anniversary. The Forsythia and the iris. Because these are favourites and it is spring And the flowers go on and we go on. And Jean goes on for awhile longer too.
The cardinals are singing. It is what it is . And all is well.

Peace to you sweet Jean. Breathe. Sleep.
It's time to dance again!

The Winter Solstice

Greetings To all Spirits in this Material World!

The Northern Hemisphere is sinking into its longest nights.  The quiet of this time of year is sometimes lost in the roar of consumerism.  The darkness of the night  denied by millions of Christmas lights.

The Light of this season - celebrated by all religions - is the Light of the Spirit.  Spirit shines bright in the skies at night - especially at this time of year.  The long darkness of the solstice night twinkling with the shimmering of star souls.  Time and space beyond imagination.  Spirit tries to shine bright in the hearts of humans too. 

A bright light of love, compassion and thankfulness - treasures of the human heart,  illuminated by Spirit..  Souls sparkling on the planet - and singing a song of JOY with all that is.  All that is Love and Life.

Peace to you in the darkness and the magic of the Solstice.!
